Aircraft > Multi-Engine Piston > Aerostar > N211W: Aerostar 600A
Attractive, well-equipped, 1978 Ted Smith Aerostar 600A professionally maintained by Joel Stout, Juliet Delta Aviation. The GNS 750 WAAS GPS, three AI's (one is an Aspen 1000 w/ AOA indicator & synthetic vision, two is pneumatic and three is a Castleberry electric), color radar, Nexrad and traffic display, along with Air-Conditioning and FIKI make this the ultimate, comfortable all-weather traveling twin with more room, excellent turbulence penetration, and lower fuel and maintenance costs than any other normally aspirated twin-engine aircraft. Garmin Connext GPS updating to the GTN 750, and Flight plan for 195 knots and 34 gph total. All logbooks since new. A new Garmin GWX-75 Digital Color Radar, Garmin, EDM-960 Electronic Engine Monitor and PS Engineering DVD system make this plane a joy to fly. Many other modifications. This plane has been hangered for many years and is flown regularly (100-150 hours per year).
Garmin GTN 750 WAAS GPS that displays either color Radar or ADS-B Nexrad. Garmin GTX-345 Transponder with ADS-B In & Out, with configurable airplane call sign (for Angel Flight uses), along with ADS-B Traffic displayed on the GTN 750. Garmin Connext installed in 2022 for easy software updates from your iPad to the panel. Battery equipped Aspen 1000 with Synthetic Vision and AOA indicator for primary instrumentation. Two other Attitude indicators, one pneumatic (which drives the Century IV 2-axis AP and was replaced in 2021) and one Castleberry electric (replaced in 2023). The Aspen RSM was replaced 2023. TCAS. New Garmin GWX-75 digital color radar installed in 2023. Sirius Wx & Radio Installed (just needs a subscription). Avidyne FlightMax EX500. PS Engineering PAV80 entertainment system with DVD and two monitors for movies (although I have never used the movies). New Keystone Altimeter 2022.

L Eng 580.6 SMOH by Continental Engines (Mobile, AL) after gear-up, w/ no indication of any abnormalities. R Eng 990 hrs SFOH (and 580 since tear down and inspect by Continental Engines. 2019 both Overhauled Propellers installed after gear-up with 580.6 hrs. Propellers included new deicing electric boots and all work perfectly. Both engines run smoothly and easily hot start. Hi temp eng control cables; AAC 920A Fire Detect both engines. EDM-960 dual electronic engine monitor installed 2020 and replaced most gauges and removed fuel lines from the cockpit. EDM-960 records thousands of data points per hour and all EDM-960 records are available since installed. Blackstone oil analyses on every oil change with no indications of abnormalities or metal. Light weight National Air Parts 70 amp starters 2016. New left Alternator, regulator & belt installed in 2024.
Interior 4-5/10. Still looks very good, but has normal wear & tear. No rips or tears anywhere in the interior. All plastic parts are intact and unbroken and all interior lights, seat belts, seats, and headphone jacks work perfectly. Two seat belt extenders for plus sized passengers. Fan motor replaced in late 2023 and additional ducts for air conditioning installed for additional cool air flow. Exterior 6-7/10. Paint still looks very good, and there is no need to repaint. There are a few bubbles and scratches, but nothing very noticeable or unsightly. No areas of missing paint or that "worn off" look. I get many compliments on the ramp appeal of the plane.
Airplane cruises about 195 knots even with the FIKI boots and Air-conditioning. I flight plan for 34 gph total, with 32 gph at 7,000', 28 gph at 11,000' keeping all EGTs <= 350 degrees F. This is a very easy plane to fly with virtually no fuel management as the center tank feeds both engines. The airplane has been hangared for many years and is in excellent condition. This plane is a joy to fly in IMC using the radar, nexrad and capable AP. The AP will capture and fly both the ILS and WAAS GPS localizer and GS indicators and will descend with centered needles to the DA (and beyond).
