These gyro instruments are electrically powered. There is no failure prone vaccum pump. Rather, there is a secondary battery behind the rear seat. A switch on the instrument panel enables this battery to be connected to an “essential buss.” This buss powers the following: Nay/Corn, audio panel, transponder, attitude indicator, turn coordinator, altitude encoder, and trim. In the event of a failure of both the main battery and the alternator, this back up battery should power these essential instruments long enough to get the airplane safely on the ground. There is a voltmeter to indicate the charge of the back up battery.

The instruments have light ring bezels, with a dimmer. There is an overhead cabin light and a red/white spotlight. There is a speaker for nay/com audio. There are jacks for passenger headsets. There is also a jack to allow a hand held radio to be connected to the airplanes built in antennas. There is a firewall vent for cabin air and/or heat. There are fresh air vents in the wing roots. A fuel shutoff valve is available in each wing root. All electrical items are protected with fuses, not breakers. Trim is controllable both from switches on the instrument panel and on the yoke grip. There is a push-to-talk switch on the grip. Note that all electrical connections from the engine compartment to the cabin are via military style (MS) connectors. The entire instrument panel my be removed as a complete assembly if necessary. A schematic drawing of all electrical wiring is available. Extensive documentation is available including factory manuals, build notes, photographs, receipts, etc.
