SOLD - other options available! Hitchcock Aviation is proud to bring this restored 1953 Super Cub PA-18-105SP "Tango Cub" to market. The PA-18-105SP was a unique trainer version of the Super Cub built for the Air Force and Civil Air Patrol with factory toe brakes.  TT 6770.4 hrs (233.9 hrs since restored), SMOH 233.9 hrs O-320 160hp, PTSN 185 hrs Borer GM 82/41.  Complete frame off restoration in 2008 with only 233.9 hrs since restoration. The restoration was built and modified using F. Atlee Dodge, CubCrafters, Airframes Alaska, etc. STC upgrades. New Lowered Price $115,000 OBO.

Remarks

Fuselage: Completely disassembled entire aircraft for complete frame up restoration.  The fuselage frame was replaced with an overhauled Rocky Mountain Airframe, Inc. frame. Rocky Mountain Airframe, Inc. repaired, reinforced, modified, and upgraded the frame with the following: ¾" tube at rear of windshield from front of wing fittings down to top longeron on left and right side. Installed new leading-edge tubes at left and right side. Installed new top door channel. Installed new left sliding window channels top and bottom.  Install new rear windshield channels on left and right side.  Installed new set of boot cowl channels at left and right sides and along bottom.  Installed new top cabin superstructure channels assembly that includes X Brace, shoulder harness fittings.  A new long tail aft fuselage section assembly was installed.  The F. Atlee Dodge welded steel aft fuselage float fittings and F. Atlee Dodge rear seat removable cross bar were installed. The Flight Doctor completely disassembled, sandblasted and inspected the frame.  The tubing was primed with epoxy and painted with polyurethane paint.  During the 2008 restoration new aluminum side and top stringers were installed.  A new fabricated firewall was installed. The electrical system was replaced using TFE wire.  New circuit breakers and switches were installed. Fabricated new interior sheet metal skins were. Fabricated all new interior panels including new aluminum headliner. Installed new F. Atlee Dodge Extended Baggage compartment.  All new upholstery and three-point seat belts installed.  All new windows including skylight were installed. Installed new Univair fuel selector and Univair fuel strainer.  New fabricated aluminum fuel lines were installed, and the header tanks were pressure tested. Fabricated new boot cowl and engine cowling skins.  New engine mounts and engine mount rubber bushings were installed.  All new exhaust components were used to rebuild muffler assembly.  Fabricated new fuel tank covers and wing to fuselage fairings installed.  New Univair heavy-duty front and rear lift struts installed.  Overhauled brake master cylinders and installed with all new brake lines. Landing lights installed in wing leading edge.  New Airborne dry pump, vacuum regulator and central air filter installed along with new vacuum hoses to gyro instruments.  All new pitot and static lines installed.  New starter and magneto switches with key style starter switch installed.  Aircraft was reassembled with all new AN hardware.  The entire fuselage, wings, and control surfaces were recovered using Air Tech Coatings system using fabric and color coated polyurethane paint.
Wings: Completely disassembled both wings. Installed new front and rear spars in left wing.  Cleaned acid etched and alodined front and rear spars in right wing.  All steel fittings were sand blasted, inspected, primed with epoxy primer and painted with polyurethane paint.  Installed Univar stamped wing ribs.  Wings reassembled using all new hardware and trammed to square.  All electrical wiring replaces with TFE  insulated wire.  All new leading edge and trailing edge Sheetmetal was installed. 
 
Control Surfaces: Elevators, stabilizers, fin and rudder were sandblasted, inspected, primed with epoxy primer and painted with polyurethane paint.  Flaps and Ailerons were cleaned, inspected and primed as necessary.
