The Waco YMF-5C is by far, the nicest biplane ever built. This gorgeous aircraft is a hand made work of art built by the Waco Factory in Battle Creek, MI. It is an FAA certified aerobatic/utility/standard category aircraft which makes it not only capable (and legal) to fly rides for hire but it gives you the safety and confidence of owning and flying a biplane with full factory support for parts, service and maintenance whenever or where ever you may need it. This machine is fully equipped with all of the modern luxuries that you are seeking. A 24V electrical system with a 50 amp alternator to power all avionics. It has a Garmin GNS 430, Full IFR instrumentation, a powerful electric starter that will not leave you stranded, long range fuel tanks with 74 gallons of usable fuel onboard to give you the range to fly over 400 nm non-stop, excellent Cleveland toe brakes, so you don't have to sweat on those shorter runways, a steerable/locking tailwheel for safe ground handling and precise steering on takeoffs and landings, pitot heat for IFR, cabin heat for cool days and higher altitudes, and navigation and cockpit lights for those predawn takeoffs and amazing sunset/night flights. The Waco YMF-5C is easy and fun to fly with its fingertip handling, beautiful and balanced flight characteristics. This aircraft is as wonderful to fly as it is to look at. It is also a majestic and fun aerobatic aircraft as well capable of pulling up to 5.2Gs (at light weights) and an occasional push to '0' gravity just for fun. The fuel system is gravity fed so no fuel pump is required or installed. With its wonderfully comfortable yet cozy seats both front bench seat and rear bucket seat (which has a telescoping up and down adjustment) that feels like sitting on a fancy sofa, this amazing flying machine will transport you back in time to 1935. You will feel the wind blowing past just outside the cockpit, and you will hear the power and wonderful purr of the 275HP Jacobs radial engine. The Jacobs engine is arguably the best performing and most reliable radial engine ever made. Just ask Pete Jones at Air Repair in Mississippi. With over 400 nm of range and flying at a brisk 110 knots, you will feel as if you are floating on a cloud as you enjoy the magnificent sounds of the Jacobs R-755 radial engine and the wind in your flying wires as you sight see your way across the country at a low and slow enough speed and altitude to actually see everything up close and personal. Technically, this aircraft is a 1935. It has no stall warning. It doesn't need one. It was built to the design specifications of the 1935 aircraft using modern tools in a modern factory to the specifications of the art deco design of its creator. If you love flying, you will fall in love this aircraft. If you need any training or if you are not sure if you can handle a tailwheel from the back seat we can help you get qualified. It's definitely worth taking a flight out to see this aircraft in person. Come see it. The aircraft comes with a current annual inspection. The SkyThrills! graphics are completely removed and the aircraft is completely detailed.
The Garmin 430 and King KX-155 Nav/Com package is the tried and true best radio combination of capability, reliability and rugged construction.
This beautiful Waco YMF-5C 'Super Waco' has been professionally cared for and flown for hire by Michael Blackstone since 2006. It flies beautifully, tracks straight as an arrow, and is the smoothest running radial engine I have ever flown with a newly overhauled R-755 engine by Pete Jones at Air Repair in MS, 2/2019.
This Pete Jones, Air Repair R-755 is the most beautiful, smoothest running, best balanced radial engine I have ever flown.
All original, showing some wear but still has plenty of usful life still left in it. The only leather piece in need of replacing is the aft seat head rest.
