Original, built as a C-53 by Douglas in 1942, the aircraft was immediately transferred to the CBI theater (China Burma India theater) where she spent the rest of the war year. After the cessation of hostilities she actually continued in "combat" operations with a predecessor to "Air America'' (CAT - Civil Air Transport. She was finally sold and transferred back to the USA in 1952 were she was converted to the current corporate configuration. She was operated by a number of entities in the corporate role until being purchased by the current owner in 2008. Joe and Mary had invested continuously in the restoration and upkeep of this historic aircraft - with the highpoint of recent adventures being a trip to Europe and back aboard the "Spirit of Benovia" in 2019.

Fresh paint in 2018, graphic elements of livery are vinyl. Beautiful 13 place corporate interior with full width aft LAV (externally serviced) and forward gally. Galley includes two beverage warmers and warming oven. Galley on right hand side includes lighted display area for wine, with a special fitted wine storage drawer. Expanded flight deck compartment with 2 observer seats. Galley and Flightdeck interior were completed in 2020.
The aircraft was modified in 1952 to incorporate many of the Airesearch "Maximiser" kit elements. The aircraft has the 'Pan-Am" main landing gear doors the "clipped" wing tips, long range fuel tanks (400 additional USG of fuel in outboard wing tanks.) She was also modified to incorporate R-1830-94 engines (which increase available horsepower.) A 14 seat corporate interior (along with a stainless steel galley) was installed at the same time. A metropolitaine air parts "airstair" doors was also installed to make cabin entry and exit easy.) The engine cowlings were changed to a "close cowled" style and polished spinners were added to the propeller hubs (both the close cowls and the spinners were removed for the 2019 trip to Europe (but are included in the sale package.) the incorporation of tall these speed modifications provided a tangible increase in cruise speed A small inventory of airframe parts and accessories - along with a zero time / fresh overhauled 1830-94 engine by Anderson Aeromotive is also included in the sale.
