Not your father's Cessna - A Ride in Style! 21 owners since it's birth on 04-07-1937. The first owner was the Aviation Country Club of Long Island. To quote an article by John Fleischman in the 2/99 issue of Air & Space/Smithsonian Magazine, "Charles Lindbergh was a charter member of the club in 1929. He was brought in by its first president, Charles Lanier Lawrence, who'd designed the Wright J5C Whirlwind air-cooled radial engine for the Spirit of St. Louis. Lindbergh, who had just married Anne Morrow, taught his bride to fly at the club. The club's treasurer was another giant of the aeronautics, Chance Vought." Later in the same article, Mr. Fleischman pointed out that the August 1938 club newsletter noted that Mr Leeroy Grumman kept a 2-place conversion of his firm's F-3-F fighter in the club's hangar. Vincent Bendix and Amelia Earhart were also members of the Aviation Country Club of Long Island. As you can see, this aircraft has a wonderful history! Perhaps you may wish to keep it in the air? 20 inches of manifold pressure with 2,000 RPM @ 4,500 feet equals 141 MPH indicated air speed. Not bad in 1937 and not too bad today!
